What is the idea behind numbering prints? Does it have to do with value?
What does soaking the paper and then blotting it do for the image of the final print?
I know the painting “The Four Apostles” is his support for Lutheranism and his woodcut of “Last Supper” is a Catholic scene. I’m not religious, so if somebody could please straighten this out for me. It would help a lot!

Can you tell me what the difference is between a print done in drypoint versus a woodcut?

Here’s a couple of woodcuts by JJ Lankes. Even though they aren’t wood engravings, his work does have the feel of an engraving rather than plank grain work.
He was born in Buffalo, New York in 1884. In his youth he trained and worked as a draughtsman before going on to study art at the Art Student’s League of Buffalo and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
